I was dealing with same issue on Safari for days, kept getting a blank page. Though maybe the page had heavy traffic and wasn't loading, so I kept going back and still was getting a blank page - then I decided to try it on Firefox, page came right up and I was able to downloading and install in about 60 seconds.
The funny thing is - once I did this using Firefox, the issue of Safari "self corrected" and the page started coming right up. And to be fair to the apple store - they aren't trained on adobe products so they may not know there's an issue with the software. The only solution that worked for me on my Sierra machines using CS5 was the answer from Zac Jackson above. Just be sure to re-enable SIP in terminal from recovery mode afterward. Add a comment. I would be curious to know whether Illustrator is actually using Java 8, or just not using Java at all. This would probably require figuring out what Illustrator functions actually rely on Java in the first place The rest happens within recovery mode: Boot into the recovery partition by holding down Cmd-R upon startup.
